Manuscripts

My most recent completed project is a 88,000 word spiritual fantasy. Crystal Mountain, Turtle Pond was shortlisted for the 2004 Varuna Awards for manuscript Development, and was awarded a mentorship. The manuscript is now under consideration for the Penguin/Varuna Scholarship.

Since the completion of Crystal Mountain, I have written a 50,000 word draft of a contemporary spiritual journey set in a fictional wilderness area south of Sydney. The rough draft of The Gate was completed as part of the 2006 National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I have since been working on the complex narrative structure and subtle character transformations.

If you are an agent interested in considering my work for representation, please email me.

Sample chapters for both projects are available on this website.

Crystal Mountain, Turtle Pond

When you climb the spiritual mountain, what you find is not always what you were searching for.

Ar-Shen, a naïve and idealistic monk, seeks the ultimate Teacher and Master. Inspired by the speculative treatise of an illustrious scholar, he treks into the wilderness on a misguided quest for the fabled Crystal Mountain, and two eternal wise beings. With his mismatched group of companions – Kiana, a warrior priestess; the elite swordsman Tyvor as a guide; and the former brigand Sahnee – he battles across the lawless Wildlands and into the untracked wilderness of the Deep Country. At the foot of the White Mountain, he must choose whether or not to embark on the treacherous path to the summit.
